Constructed in 1909 as Kenosha’s original Post Office, the stately structure served the community for 25 years before accomplishing something few buildings can claim—it was physically moved several blocks to its current location in 1934.

After the move, the building transformed into the original Kenosha Museum, opening to the public in 1936. For more than six decades, it housed the Kenosha Public Museum until the museum relocated to its Lake Michigan campus in 2001. Rather than letting this architectural treasure sit idle, the building began a new chapter in 2006 as the Dinosaur Discovery Museum.

Today, it continues its mission of educating and inspiring visitors while standing proudly within the Civic Center Historic District. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building symbolizes Kenosha’s commitment to preserving its past while embracing its future.
